Kearsley Families,
I’d like to revisit an important topic that shapes the environment where our students learn and grow — the importance of civility and the expectations we hold for everyone in our Kearsley community.
As adults, we all play a critical role in modeling these behaviors for our children. Whether interacting with office staff, representing Kearsley at an event, attending a parent-teacher conference, or posting on social media, our words and actions set the tone for our schools and community.
I also want to remind families that it is rarely appropriate for adults to inject themselves into conflicts between students. Disputes, disagreements, or issues between students at school should be handled by school staff, who are trained to address such matters appropriately and fairly. When adults intervene directly with other students — whether in person, at events, or while interacting online — it can escalate tensions, undermine the school’s ability to respond effectively, and place everyone in a difficult position. We ask that all concerns involving students be brought to a teacher, counselor, or building administrator so they can be addressed promptly and resolved.
Last fall, we added an “Expectations of Adults” section to our Parent/Student Handbook, which is available here, on page 24. By committing to these expectations, we not only support our children but also strengthen the culture of respect and collaboration that makes Kearsley Community Schools such a special place.
Let’s continue working together to address issues constructively and with a shared commitment to student well-being. Thank you for helping us ensure Kearsley remains a place where every student can thrive and where civility and respect for others defines who we are.
Sincerely,
Paul Gaudard
Superintendent
