Cellphone Policy

In accordance with Michigan law, which now requires school districts to prohibit student use of wireless communication devices during instructional time, KHS will implement the following expectations:

  • No cellphone or earbud use during class. Students may not use cell phones, earbuds, or similar personal electronic devices during instructional time.

  • Emergency situations will be handled through the school. If an emergency requires communication with a student, that communication should take place through the teacher and/or the main office rather than through the student's personal device during class.

  • If a student is sent to the office for a cellphone violation, the student's phone will remain in the main office for the remainder of the school day, and the student will be assigned a Saturday School Detention.

  • Repeated violations will result in progressive discipline. If additional cell phone violations occur before the assigned Saturday School Detention is served, disciplinary consequences will escalate and may include In-School Suspension and/or Suspension.
