Kearsley Community Schools and Meijer launched Project SEARCH at the Burton Meijer store in September to let six students with special needs learn job skills in work areas like grocery stocking and the bakery — the internship ends May 30 with graduation on June 3.
Genesee Intermediate School District coordinates the program and teacher David Hall meets with the students each morning to help build their independence and prepare them for future employment — the initiative sets a new path for real-world job training.
