Kearsley Families,
We remain committed to ensuring that all students learn in a safe and secure environment. Threat assessment has been, and continues to be, an important preventative measure to support the safety and well-being of our students and staff.
In 2021, Kearsley began training district staff using a nationally recognized threat assessment process, the Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines (C-STAG). Each threat assessment team includes an administrator and a school social worker and, when appropriate, our School Resource Officer. Certain situations may also require the involvement and expertise of our contracted school psychologist. More information about C-STAG can be found here.
While we are confident in the processes we have implemented, it is important to regularly revisit and review our threat assessment protocols. Earlier this week, staff members involved and trained in threat assessment met to review procedures and ensure consistent practices across all buildings.
Although we have strong systems and well-trained teams in place, effective threat assessment relies on the continued vigilance of our entire school community, including families. We encourage you to speak with your children about responsible behavior, including appropriate use of social media. If you see or hear something concerning, please report it immediately to your child’s building principal.
Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy school environment for all Kearsley students.
Sincerely,
Paul Gaudard
Superintendent
Kearsley Community Schools
