Tips to Succeed in KVA

Kearsley Virtual Academy is a dynamic program, offering a variety of courses, a personalized learning path, credit recovery, and the opportunity to earn a high school diploma with successful completion of 18 credits.

Habits of Successful KVA students

  • KVA slideshow of announcements is displayed on your Chromebook each day when you log in

  1. Embrace the characteristics of a digital learner

  • Time spent in the program = 30 hours per week, minimum

  • Watching the videos

  • Effort and integrity

  1. Commitment to WEEKLY communication

  • Check your school-issued email

  • Sign up for Remind: text 81010 and enter code @kva23

  • KVA phone number is 810-591-5385

  1. Make participation and attendance a priority*

  • One day in the lab per week: Wednesday or Thursday, 3:00 - 5:00, or a minimum of 2 hours

  • Log into your classes - work a minimum of 5 hours per day

  • Return phone calls or emails from the Mentor

*Failure to communicate or make progress in your classes will result in removal from the program!

  1. Attend Mandatory Report Days

  • You will receive advanced notice to attend the lab on Count Day and complete at least one assignment in each of your classes

  • State of Michigan testing days will also be communicated in advance

  1. Work with your counselor to track your process towards graduation

  • 18 credits are required for graduation.

    Each course you take is ½ credit, so 36 total courses

  • Review your Student Transcript and see what credits you have earned

  • Identify what you are going to be scheduled for this semester and make a plan for what credits you still need to complete.
